Largely unchanged, the 2013 Ford Explorer is a FWD full-size crossover
available with two different engines; a standard 3.5-liter V6 engine that
produces 290 hp/255 lb-ft of torque and an optional 2.0-liter turbocharged
4-cylinder Ecoboost engine that produces 240 hp/270 lb-ft of torque.
Transmission options are comprised of a standard 6-speed automatic and an
optional 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. Fuel mileage falls within
an EPA estimated range of 17 mpg city to 28 mpg highway, depending on engine and
transmission selection. Features include 4WD, terrain management system, seating
for up to seven passengers, power liftgate, remote start, automatic climate
control, hill descent control, rear view camera, voice activated SYNC®, active
park assist, heated/cooled seats, navigation system, push-button start, and
dual-headrest DVD players. Safety consists of a blind sport information system,
collision warning with brake support, trailer sway control, electronic stability
control, curve control, anti-lock braking (ABS), and an industry-first
inflatable rear safety belts. The Explorer is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile
warranty.
